1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using the telco.dev API and website (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. The Service is operated by do.dev. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

telco.dev provides a telephone number lookup API that returns carrier information, location data, and other publicly available information about North American phone numbers (NANP). The data is sourced from public regulatory databases including NANPA and CNAC.

3. Account Registration

To use the API, you must create an account and obtain API keys. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Maintain the security of your API keys
  • Accept responsibility for all activity under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use

4. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Harass, stalk, or harm individuals
  • Send unsolicited communications (spam)
  • Conduct telemarketing without proper consent
  • Circumvent rate limits or access controls
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code
  • Resell API access without authorization
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service
  • Use automated means to scrape or bulk download data beyond API limits

5. Rate Limits and Usage

API access is subject to rate limits based on your subscription plan. Current limits are:

  • Free tier: 1,000 requests per day
  • Paid plans: As specified in your subscription

Exceeding rate limits may result in temporary or permanent suspension of access.

6. API Keys

API keys are confidential and should be treated as passwords. Do not share API keys publicly or embed them in client-side code. We reserve the right to revoke API keys that are compromised or misused.

7. Data Accuracy Disclaimer

Important Notice

The data provided by telco.dev is for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for any decision-making.

While we strive to maintain accurate and up-to-date telephone numbering data sourced from official regulatory databases (NANPA, CNAC), telco.dev provides all information on an "as-is" basis without any warranties, express or implied, regarding accuracy, completeness, reliability, or fitness for any particular purpose.

You acknowledge and agree that:

  • Carrier assignments, rate centers, and phone number data change frequently
  • There may be delays between official regulatory updates and our database refresh
  • Number portability means carrier data may not reflect current ownership
  • Some data fields may be incomplete, outdated, or unavailable
  • We cannot verify the real-time status of any phone number
  • International number data may have additional limitations

Use of this Service is entirely at your own risk. We strongly recommend that users independently verify any critical information through official sources such as NANPA, CNAC, or your telecommunications provider before making decisions based on data from this API.

telco.dev, do.dev, and their affiliates shall not be held liable for any errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in the data provided, or for any actions taken in reliance thereon.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, and documentation, is owned by do.dev and protected by intellectual property laws. The underlying phone number data is sourced from public regulatory databases. You may use API responses in your applications but may not claim ownership of the Service itself.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DO.DEV SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless do.dev and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. You may also terminate your account at any time.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
